Proficia is the company behind the ground-breaking software application TeamManager Pro®
TeamManager Pro® is a ground-breaking software application designed to meet a huge need within the world of professional sports team management. It was borne out of the personal experiences of working within a top flight rugby club and was specifically designed to address many of the bug-bears around the day-to-day operational needs in environments where resources are at a premium.
Managing Director, Andy Piddington, started Proficia (then called Logical Systems) in October 2011, following almost 14 years involvement with professional rugby union. Andy’s journey started in 1997 with Swansea RFC’s remit for him to implement stronger controls and processes to enable the club to operate within the newly formed Celtic League. Following the formation of the Ospreys in 2003, Andy was then tasked with fulfilling the role of Financial Controller for the newly formed region.
Less than two years later, Andy was formally appointed General Manager of Ospreys Rugby (ahead of their move to the Liberty Stadium), and was given responsibility for the day-to-day control of finance, administration and commercial activities.
The early years of life at the Liberty Stadium saw a rapid growth of the brand with average attendances just shy of 10,000 at its peak, including around five “sell-out” attendances.
However, such success brought its challenges to the operational resources, and staff struggled to cope with the demands thrust upon them.
Andy researched in vain for potential solutions to rationalise and reduce duplicated processing and the inherent risks of reliance upon spreadsheets.
When Andy moved on from the Ospreys (in early 2011) there was already a clear concept in his mind of what would become TeamManager Pro®.
Over the ensuing months, in association with software developers, he began to develop an application that incorporates concrete solutions to the many inefficiencies and counterproductive processes witnessed over successive seasons managing a professional rugby club.
With an initial focus upon player contract administration & commercial image exploitation (those challenges that loomed largest on his horizon while at the Ospreys), the product has now become a potent administrative & management tool, incorporating a host of other invaluable capabilities.
Though already comprehensive in its scope to assist with club management (as our clients already testify), Andy still has many ideas for additional functionality to further enhance the product, much of which is underway on a pipeline development program, continually influenced by our clients experiences.
